PARISH NEWS & NOTICES
REDEEMER WELCOMES THE REV. ROBIN K. GULICK!
On July 1, we welcomed The Rev. Robin K. Gulick as our new (and we believe Redeemer's first ever) Assistant to the Rector. Robin was ordained a transitional deacon at Washington National Cathedral on June 14; she will be ordained to the priesthood in January 2009. Her primary responsibility, along with liturgical leadership and pastoral care, is ministry with youth. She serves half-time at Redeemer and half-time at Virginia Theological Seminary at the Center for Anglican Communion Studies. Her schedule at Redeemer is Tuesdays, 1:00-5:00 p.m. and Wednesdays, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Sundays.
Robin is as enthusiastic about this new ministry as we are and looks forward to getting to know Redeemer's young people and families and other parishioners with a heart for youth -- soon. You can make a date with her for coffee or ice cream this summer! Just sign up in the parish hall, email her at revrobingulick@verizon.net or call 301-229-3770, ext. 22.

A MESSAGE OF WELCOME FROM THE RECTOR
Welcome to The Church of the Redeemer, a lively Episcopal parish of people of all ages and backgrounds. We value diversity and welcome all people who seek God or a deeper knowledge of God to join us on Sundays and during the week, and become part of our community of faith. Redeemer celebrates the mystery of life and faith, and helps its parishioners to explore it. We do not presume to have set answers to all the questions of life or faith, but we are open to the Spirit, and have a deep trust in a God who is good - all the time.
Our worship on Sundays and during the week is the heart of our life together. We worship in a sanctuary filled with light, beauty and an openness that reflects the openness of this community. Here our hearts are truly lifted to the Lord. Our worship life comprises a wide variety of services, quiet and contemplative, as well as lively and joyous. We have a rich and growing ministry of music, ably supported by a new pipe organ, dedicated in October 2007. We aim to proclaim the Gospel not only in word and worship, but also in our common life and our daily lives. There are opportunities here for Christian formation for adults and young persons, and a wide variety of opportunities to live out our Christian values and faith in service to others. |
