Summer Music Camp
We are sorry; there will be no Summer Music Camp in 2016
Each summer, The Church of the Redeemer is pleased to offer a music camp for 25-30 children and youth from the parish, local community, and beyond. Designed for children/youth ages 7-14, the camp is staffed by three professional musical educators, who help participants grow musically through a week of secular, experiential learning. Using the Orff-Schulwerk process, children/youth sing, speak, move, and play, while exploring literature and poetry, singing games, choral music, and a variety of percussion instruments, including drums and xylophones. In addition, campers’ innate creativity is fostered through simple improvisation/composition exercises. Other activities include daily arts and crafts and outdoor recreation. The week culminates in an informal, interactive performance for family and friends. No prior musical training is needed in order to participate. Tuition for the week is $375. Scholarships are available. Lunch and a snack are provided daily.
The deadline for registration is July 16. Questions? Contact Christopher Betts, Director of Music: firstname.lastname@example.org or 301-229-3770, ext. 16.
