In the coming week ...
Adult Education Forum
Sunday, March 7, 9:15 a.m.
For the next four Sundays, we will continue to explore spiritual practices that make up a Rule of Life. Each week we will have gone into some depth on creating and living with a Rule of Life, practices of prayer, stewardship of body and soul, and Sabbath, during the Mid-Week Lenten Class. During the Forum, we will reap the fruits of these discussions, bringing to the Sunday sessions the distilled learning and reflections of the weekday participants.
Mid-week Lenten Class: Rule of Life - Take Two
The Lenten Class, led by Susan Burns and Robin Gulick, focuses on the spiritual practices of Prayer (centering, Lectio Divina, body prayer), Stewardship of Body and Soul, and Sabbath. Class is offered on Tuesday evenings (7:30-9:00 p.m., March 2, 9, 16, 23); and Wednesday mornings (10:00-11:30 a.m., March 3, 10, 17, 24). Evening and morning sessions will have the same basic content.
Have Your Picture Taken
Sunday, March 7
This Sunday, March 7, parishioner Bruce McWilliams will be available to take your photograph so that it may be added to the picture board in the Parish Hall. If you are new to Redeemer, or have not yet had your picture taken, we hope you will, so that we can connect your name with your face.
Adult Education Committee Meeting
Sunday, March 7, 12:30 p.m.
The Adult Education Committee is looking for new forum topics and welcomes all parishioners (committee member or not) to our first meeting of the year this Sunday, March 7, at 12:30 p.m. The response to forums presented in the form of a series has been wonderful, so we are looking for series ideas in particular. We also want to present a balance of perspectives. Bring your imagination and visionary skills! For more information, contact committee chair Graeme Browning: graemebrowning@verizon.net or 301-530-1940.
Music at Redeemer: Inscape Chamber Orchestra in Concert
Sunday, March 7, 5:00 p.m.
Acclaimed harpsichordist Joseph Gascho joins Inscape, Ensemble-in-residence at Redeemer, for a performance of Manuel de Falla’s Concerto for Harpsichord, as well as solo works by François Couperin. The second half of the program features Igor Stravinsky’s rarely-heard Septet and a premiere by composer John Leupold. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear a world-class performance right here at Redeemer! Free-will offering. Reception to follow.
Lenten Taizé Service
Every Monday during Lent, 7:30 p.m.
Taizé is an informal, contemplative service with scripture, icons, incense, silence, and chant, accompanied by piano, guitar, and other instruments, held on the first Monday of every month and every Monday during Lent. The quiet beauty of Taizé is an ideal way to begin the work week. Why not make Taizé part of your Lenten practice? All are welcome!
Lenten Meditations & Posters
Copies of Episcopal Relief & Development’s Lenten meditation booklet and Journey through Lent posters are available on the table in the Narthex and in the Parish Hall.

This year's program features English masterpieces of the 20th century, including Benjamin Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb and Hymn to the Virgin, as well as works by Charles Villiers Stanford, Charles H.H. Parry, and William H. Harris. The program is rounded out with Britten's rarely-performed canticle Abraham and Isaac, with Chris Dudley, countertenor, and Matthew Smith, tenor. Youth Outing: Terrapin Adventures
Sunday, March 21, 12:30 p.m.
This event was originally scheduled to take place in the Fall. We hope all middle and high school will join us for this opportunity to get out of town and into nature. See the March issue of the parish newsletter for more details on the different activities we will engage in. The cost is $20 per participant. If money is an issue, PLEASE contact Robin Gulick as we don’t want the cost to prevent anyone from participating in youth activities this year (or ever!). We will leave Redeemer at 12:30 pm and return at 5:00 pm. If your children are interested in participating, please contact Robin Gulick as soon as possible. At least ten participants and two adult chaperones/drivers are needed.
