Who We Are

Welcome to The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Bethesda, Maryland, where  doubters, seekers, and believers are invited to join us in living and wrestling with the often difficult questions of faith. No matter who you are or where you find yourself on the journey of faith, you are welcome here at Redeemer. Our pews are filled with people of many nations, ages, and interests. Those who identify as LGBTQ and their supporters are here as well.  There are folks in coats and ties, Jeans and tee-shirts, maxi and mini-skirts, and wing-tips and soccer cleats sitting together in our pews.

Redeemer is known for beautiful, reverent worship, excellence in preaching and music, and active outreach ministries to neighbors near and far.  The parish is also known for its celebration of the sacred in the arts and in the world around us.

We value Anglican spirituality – one that is open to the mystery of the Holy and that celebrates the dignity of every human being and the beauty of all creation. We are a part of the family of churches that find their roots in the English Reformation.

Redeemer’s local outreach ministries include support of Manna Food Center and participation in Street Church, a weekly outdoor Eucharist and lunch program for homeless individuals in the District of Columbia. Members provide a dinner for homeless men every other month through Bethesda Cares and tutor elementary students in Silver Spring. We provide backpacks for DC youth. The parish hosts six 12-step meetings in its parish hall. Internationally, the parish supports Episcopal Relief and Development and Food for the Poor.

We look forward to greeting you!

Yours in Christ,

Rev’d Cricket Park, Rector
